Our space

Our studio

The studio is a space dedicated to slowing down and creating with your hands. Surrounded by clay, tools, and shelves of works in progress, it’s a place where ideas take shape and creativity unfolds naturally.

Whether you're just getting started or looking to deepen your practice, we’re here to guide you, answer your questions, and help you feel at home every step of the way.

We believe ceramics is not only about making objects, but also about connecting with the material, the moment, and the joy of creating something from the earth.

Come visit the studio, take a look around, and let’s connect over clay and fire.

Movement

Classes

From Monday to Thursday, you can find classes, either on the wheel or handbuilding. Our weekly classes allow you to develop your skills in hand building and/or wheel throwing over the long term. Perfect for gaining hands-on experience in ceramics! Your pieces will be fired throughout the term, giving you the chance to see your progress and growth. Wheel throwing focuses on cylindrical shapes, ideal for creating functional items such as dinnerware. Hand building allows you to create a wide range of shapes, from decorative pieces to sculptures or functional tableware. All materials are provided, including clay and firing. Once your pieces are fired and glazed, you can pick them up after about a month. Wheel Throwing or Hand Building — Which One’s for You? Wheel Throwing: Use the potter’s wheel to craft vessels like bowls, mugs, and more. It’s technical at first, but opens up a wide world of possibilities. The most addictive way of shaping clay. Hand Building: Shape clay freely using simple tools and your hands. Great for creative exploration and unique forms. No two pieces will be alike.

WHEELTHROWING

Use the potter’s wheel to craft vessels like bowls, mugs, and more. It’s technical at first, but opens up a wide world of possibilities. The most addictive way of shaping clay.

Testimonials

I had such a lovely experience at Marilyn’s studio. She is so informative, helpful, and made the whole process feel really simple. I’m so happy with how my pieces turned out. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Great ceramics studio! The teacher was friendly, the atmosphere was relaxing, and I really enjoyed creating my own piece. Highly recommended.

The chillest, most creative, friendly and fun environment. Excellent instructor and a definite MUST EXPERIENCE in Athens. Souvenirs just got epic

The primary objective for an educator is to produce autodidacts.

Marilyn

Marilyn Founder

I'm endlessly fascinated by glazes, surfaces, and the unexpected results that emerge from the kiln. I love exploring new shapes and pushing clay in different directions. Through this studio, I hope to share what I've learned, keep learning from others, and build a welcoming community around ceramics.

Marina

Marina Handbuilding teacher

I love exploring sculptural forms, miniatures, ceramic jewelry and hand painted surfaces. Fish often appear as a recurring symbol of my work. I teach handbuilding classes and encourage a playful exploratory approach to working with clay.

PRODUCTION

Alongside our classes and community offerings, the studio is also a space for handmade tailored ceramic production. Each piece is made with care — thrown or hand-built — and crafted to suit your specific needs, whether you're an individual looking for a unique object, or a professional designing a space. We work with: Individuals seeking meaningful, one-of-a-kind pieces for daily use or special occasions Restaurants and cafés looking for custom tableware that elevates the dining experience Hotels, designers, and artists interested in thoughtful ceramics that complement interior spaces We collaborate closely with each client to understand their vision — from material and form to finish and function. Whether it's a single piece or a full collection, everything is made slowly and intentionally, with quality and character at the heart of the process. Basement

EXHIBITIONS

From time to time, the studio hosts exhibitions in its basement — the hidden part of the space. This is where the magic happens: in the darker side of Kato Kosmos, the world beneath the world. The basement becomes a place of encounter, transformation, and discovery. For these exhibitions, ceramics step aside to make room for a wide range of artistic practices. We welcome visual artists, sculptors, photographers, painters, and other creative voices who wish to share their work in an intimate and unconventional setting. Through these gatherings, we aim to build a broader artistic community — creating opportunities to meet, exchange ideas, and connect. Who knows? Maybe the beginning of future collaborations. Wetrip

Daisy Dickinson

WETRIP is a multi-sensory sound and video installation by Simon Fisher Turner and Daisy Dickinson that blends analogue film, digital imagery, and experimental sound into a dreamlike cinematic experience. Through fragmented landscapes, distorted time, and evolving sonic textures, it creates a hypnotic environment that shifts between beauty, disorientation, stillness, and decay. Rather than telling a linear story, WETRIP immerses audiences in a visceral journey that challenges the boundaries of film, sound, and perception.

Human Kind

Varvara Liakounakou

Human Kind is a sculptural and sensory installation by Varvara Liakounakou that explores themes of kindness, connection, and collective human experience. Created in collaboration with Artsct Initiative and Kato Kosmos Studio, the work features sculptures made entirely from recycled plastic, reflecting on humanity’s relationship with waste, consumption, and environmental change. Through a collection of interconnected voices and forms, the installation suggests that empathy and kindness may offer a way to navigate the uncertainties and challenges of the modern world.

Temptation of the Forgotten Flesh

Luis Karl Borje, Sebastian Boulter, Jakko

Temptation of the Forgotten Flesh is a sound installation that explores the material relationship between flesh, stone, steel, and desire. Combining experimental electronic sound, poetry, and vibration, the work transforms Kato Kosmos Studio into an immersive environment where sound travels through the architecture and resonates through the body. Eschewing traditional musical structures, the installation creates an ever-changing sensory experience that invites audiences to engage with sound in a deeply physical and atmospheric way.

EVENT

Prices on demand We offer tailor-made workshops for corporate events (team-building) and private gatherings (bachelorette parties, birthdays, dinner experience etc.), designed to introduce participants to ceramics. These sessions are led by the team and experienced instructors who also teach our regular classes. Participants can create hand-built pieces, which are then fired and glazed by our team during the following month, so everyone can take home a finished object from their experience.
